As Christ died for us then rose from the dead, So do we pass beneath and arise from the wet To testify of the change now wrought by Christ And show all that we worship the Savior we have met. This is the pattern that Christians have led Since John led his cousin, the source of Grace, To Galilee's water before blood was shed And salvation was made open to all human race. God bless my hand and let His Spirit give them voice As my daughters and my wife testify to their choice Of the Grace poured out for them by the living King Whose Spirit can heal and make all hearts sing. May His power give strength and hold back my pain As I baptise the ones He gave to my care, So that all may rejoice in the joy that we claim And the love for the Christ we now share.

"May His power give strength and hold back my pain as I baptize the ones He gave to my care." I understand everything except "hold back my pain"
