Bless us, O Lord, and these thy gifts Are words my wife and I often pray. We're not praying a blessing for dinner, Although our gratitude keeps growing each day. It's our children we bless and are thankful for As we pray before our night's rest. Each is a blessing, a problem, a hope And each takes their turn as a test. All of them were entrusted to us To watch over and guide as they choose The course life will go when our watch is done And we pray they will reach out for truths. For when life is over and judgment has come They won't be asked what rules we applied. They'll be asked their own choices and we will stand by And watch as they go to the right or left side. We can't decide for them. We would if we could. We can only give examples to see. I know that I pray every day That they won't make wrong choices because of me. Bless us, O Lord, and these your true gifts. Guide us as we walk through each day. Let them see us as we turn always to You And draw them to You we do pray.
