One Dreadful, But Glorious Day
One dreadful, but glorious day,
You died to take our sins away.
The shadow of a towering cross lie before You,
Your past, with its all sorrows and joys, fell behind You.
None of Your past joys could compare,
none of Your past sorrows would dare
to compete with the task before You.
So dreadful, but You knew You must
die as planned, but not turn to dust.
So glorious, death's sting ever brief,
victorious, You captured all grief.
You looked beyond what lie before,
not seeing Your fate as mere man,
seeing instead that it meant war,
as Salvation came by Your hand.
You looked beyond and saw the worth
of each man's soul and so You cried
"Father, Your cup, for each one's birth!,"
then You hung Your head and You died.
One dreadful, but glorious day...
I owed a debt I could not pay.
You, as Lamb slain, love's Sacrifice,
paid in full, the ultimate price.
